The 2018 Summer Camp Registration is now open both online and through the mail. Read more to register online or to print a copy of the paper registration.

Beginning April 4th, the state assessment window will open at Triad and students in grades 3-8 will complete the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) tests and students in grade 9-11 will complete the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) assessments. All Illinois public schools administer a state assessment in grades 3rd through 8th and one at the high school level (Juniors).

Science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) are present in every classroom in Triad. Take a moment to read this edition of Triad's STEM newsletter to find out more about STEM activities happening in our classrooms and ideas for STEM at home.

The topic of safety is at the forefront in our schools today. Unfortunately, it goes well beyond hallway and playground rules put in place to keep students safe. Our conversations now revolve around surveillance, lockdowns, active shooter drills, and escape plans. It is important that the Triad Community continue conversations on how we can work together to make all of our schools safer for students and staff.

Across the district, teachers are preparing students for upcoming state testing that begins in late March and early April. Students in grades 3rd through 8th take a Math and English Language Arts Test. In 9th and 10th grades, students take a Pre-SAT test while our juniors take the SAT college entrance exam.

On Tuesday, March 20th, the voters of Madison County will be asked to approve a proposal to provide funding to all county school districts through a 1-Cent sales tax increase. The revenue from this sales tax can only be used to make payments on existing bond debt and to maintain and improve school facilities.

This year Triad was selected to work with the Saint Louis Science Center on the Carnegie STEM Excellence Pathway. In this program, ten districts around the St. Louis area gather throughout the year to make goals and further STEM education in our districts. Please take a moment to read this newsletter to find out more about the program, STEM activities happening in classrooms throughout Triad, and STEM ideas that you can use at home.

Parents and other community members are invited to a Triad District town hall meeting on the topic of Bullying in and out of school on Tuesday, November 7th from 6:30 to 7:30 PM at the C. A. Henning Elementary cafeteria.

We are very excited to announce the release of a new, district-wide mobile communications application.

Congratulations are in order for Carrie Metze! She was nominated and chosen to be Triad's candidate for the Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award for the 2017-18 school year! Carrie Metze has been teaching at Triad High School for 31 years.

Providing transportation services for Triad students has become more challenging each school year. The District is in need of your assistance in recruiting bus drivers to work for Triad.

Triad enrollment continues to grow. The graphs below show the upward trend of increased student enrollment. The current kindergarten class is the largest in Triad's history, and this year's total enrollment is the highest since 2007. The charts below also show the increase in the number of students at the early childhood-elementary levels.

The first Monday of student attendance at Triad CUSD#2 will be spent a little differently due to a total solar eclipse.
